Silvretta High Alpine Road

Silvretta Hochalpenstrasse

The Silvretta High Alpine Road is a unique experience for groups, and is rightly known as the "Dream Road of the Alps". The 22.3 km alpine route connects the Montafon region in Vorarlberg with Paznaun in Tyrol, and can be reached via the exits at the Partenen or Galtür toll stations. Negotiating this route involves a total of 34 bends, 30 of them on the way up to the Bielerhöhe pass at 2,032 metres. The mountain landscapes, as well as the Vermunt and Silvretta lakes, form a consistently cinematic panorama along the way. Once at the top of the Bielerhöhe, views of Vorarlberg's highest mountain greet the eyes - the Piz Buin, towering over at 3,312 m. For travel groups looking to combine nature and culture, a visit to the Alpinarium adventure museum in Galtür is a must. A permanent exhibition there entitled "GANZ OBEN" tells stories about Galtür and its connection to the world; there are special combination offers for bus and travel groups. The Silvretta High Alpine Road is usually passable from June to October, depending on the weather. In the winter months, you can reach the Bielerhöhe pass via the Vermunt cable car and the “Tunnel Bus”.
