Werkraum is home to various forward-thinking and traditionally-rooted craftspeople from the Bregenzerwald area. The visionary building was designed by world-famous architect Peter Zumthor but built and fitted out by the collective might of the local craftsmen themselves. The idea was for it to be a meeting place, exhibition hall and a grand showcase for the time-honoured trades of the Bregenzerwald region. An area of around 700 square metres in the hall is regularly rearranged for a variety of exhibitions and events on a fascinating range of topics. It’s by turns an insight into local life, workmanship, art and design.
